Simple facts about Mario (video game)

1.During the development of the
    game Donkey Kong (the first Mario
    game). Mario was known as
    Jumpman.

2.In the first game, Mario was made
    into a carpenter. But later Nintendo
    decided that Mario should be a
    plumber, since a lot of the game
    was played in the underground
    setting.

3.Luigi is Mario younger brother,
    both of them is Italian-American
    people which work as a plumber in
    New York City.

4.Originally Miyamoto Shigeru
    (Mario creator) wanted to used
    Popeye, Bluto and Olive Oyl
    characters to create a video game.
    However, he was unable to aqcuire
    a license to use the characters, so
    he ended up making Jumpman
    (Mario), Donkey Kong and Pauline.

5.Super Mario Bros. was the first
    movie based on a video game
    franchise.

6.The Mario series of video games
    has sold more than 500 million
    copies (510 million as of 2015),
    making it the best selling video
    game franchise of all time.

7.There is an island in Super Mario
    Bros. 3 that is shaped like Japan,
    with a castle near where Kyoto
    would be located, which is where
    Nintendo is headquartered.

8.Before Mario name was Jumpman,
    Mario was known as Mr Video, and
    before that his name is Ossan
    which mean middle-aged guy in
    Japanese.

9.Wario name is actually based on
    the Japanese word for bad, which
    is Warui, and is a shortened version
    of Warui Mario.

10.Miyamoto Shigeru wanted Mario
      to ride a dinosaur way back when
      Super Mario Bros. first released,
      but the Nintendo technical
      limitations made this impossible.
      It was six years before this vision
      was realised.
